I have a 2000 F350 SRW. Very cold this morn, and when driving normal through gears it seems to be fine, but if i get on it like i'm going to pass someone, engine revs up and truck doesnt really accelerate in speed like it should. Does it both in 2wd or 4wd. Doesnt seem to slip when I first take off from a stop. I also had a fuel leak when i stopped at gas station. It was coming from engine area, drove back home and it had quit. Had fuel in valley, and spray everywhere else. Couldn't really find where it had come from drove to work 30+ mile and back no leak. Checked all my air clamps and hose all seemed ok. Drove truck night before and drove fine. Don't understand whats going on with it. Any help appreciated, Thanks
Welcome to FTE. Leaking fuel can get on the clutch and make it slip. Also, how does the pedal feel push it in? Mine went from good one day to mushy the next. It would hold for normal driving, but slip under heavy acceleration. If you have fuel on the clutch it should get better with time if you get the fuel leak stopped.
Thanks for the reply, after looking through the other topics I seen that the yellow handle drain ***** at filter have problems and thats what color mine is. I did tinker with that when trying to get leak to come back again. Pedal has to come all the way to the top to engage, and don't take much to disengage. Don't have problem going in or out of gears. I've got a edge evo2 and before installing it truck would rev up when cold at idle, and now it don't, jsut curious how to get it to rev up without removing evo2.
actually its not likely fuel causing slippage. when the engines running it would sling any liquid away from the clutch, and when its stopped if anything it would run down the rear face of the block inside the bellhousing, between the flywheel and the block. unless the drain was plugged and it filled the housing. 2000 is old enough that the clutch is prob just about toast. the high engagement, early release is pretty telltale for that. the pic above shows a clutch where a couple of the pressure plate springs have failed. when that happens the friction plate isn't squeezed as firmly and the torque capacity is reduced. i drove an 81 ford the boys had the gas to the floor, low range buried in the mud, no tires turning. stinky smell, pulled it out, it pulled heavy trailers for years no problem, but if you tried to rock it in second even low range it would slip
How would the fuel get to the clutch?? What would my truck act like if I had a boot loose, can't tell that i have one. Just wondering, jsut not convinced its my clutch. Thanks

just a thought..my 2000 dually won't rev at cold idle because the park brake switch sticks,so the pcm thinks the brake is released.if i set the brake and fiddle with the switch until the dash light comes on then it will raise cold idle.
