I have a 68 f250 with power steering. I am wondering if someone might have some suggestions on why it will not automatically return to center when turning. Other than that, the steering is great.

Two possibilities, your caster alignment is off, and/or, your
steering box is adjusted too tight.....

what does the stabilizer shock do?

The stabilizer prevents sudden jolts from the tires from moving the steering wheel. My 70 F-250 does the same thing as yours. My steering box is fine and castor is in specs. I just got used to it. More castor would probably be the key.
