Sorry to hear that things are that tough right now Rick. I try to support the local store when I can but find myself going to the big box stores also. I sure hope this all works out for you. Having been in the hardware business for about 8 years all I can say is kill them with service...never apologize for your pricing...smile and kill them with more service. Good luck my friend.
I do understand that I may be a little more expensive then the big stores on some things. I also understand in this economy we all need to watch our pennies. I should find out in the next month or two if I will be able to stay open or have to close. I do have a nice can crusher that my dad made years ago, and I am putting it to use these last couple weeks. lol.
I tried finding a good can crusher about a year ago, went to the big stores Lowes, HD and none of them had it. So I went to this small hardware store and they had 3 different kinds. The only thing is none of them had the capability to crush the bigger/taller cans so I had to buy the small one they had. Now I need to buy another one because the one I have the handle broke. Now I'm back too smashing with my foot.
I know the majority of you folks use Rotella in your engine and I agree it is a good oil. I looked at the TS store brand Traveller deezel oil. Its says that it meets all the major manf specs! The price is decent and with the close changes I do the Rotella starts to get pretty pricey. I would think a tractor motor would be worked a whole lot harder than my truck. Any opinions Thanks
I wouldn't be afraid of it.... it meets the API diesel spec. But the math works out in favor of Motorcraft at $14 for a 5 quart jug (price the other day). 3 for an oil change.
I run Rotella synthetic in the winter and will likely just run it year round. It was $20 a gallon last week when I got it, but prices are going up.... TSC shows it at $29 a gallon. Surely not a deal there!
Motorcraft is a good oil and a relative bargain at $14 for 5 quarts. The math work out like 4 gallons of Rotella @ $80 (spare quart and it's 29$ a gallon at TSC so it would be much more) and Motorcraft @ $42 for 15 quarts.....
BTW judging by the TSC web site you are better off with Motorcraft from Wally World.
I did learn a lot from an oil analysis.... I wasted a lot of oil changing it a 3K my whole life, no more!
Also if you ever need to add any oil, you can ALWAYS get Rotella at a truck stop.

Reason: adding oil...
Buzz! thanks for the info. I bought a 5 gallon bucket at $47 , Think that works out to @2.35 a qt. Will give it a try but it seems like decent product. You can alway go back.
