When the one north of here opened up, they had some awesome deals. Even raffled off a riding mower the last day of the grand opening week. They were the only local place that I could get parts (nozzles, hose, pickup tubes) for the fuel transfer pump I have. Not to mention they have so may ratchet straps, tow straps, and rope. I could spend thousands in there in one trip....
Bought a dump trailer for my yard tractor to haul things and cleanups around the house. They were running a great deal on them so I jumped on it. I'll never forget the packages of extra large sunflower seeds they had, they were huge so I bought a couple bags, haven't seen them since.
The one thing I buy regularly from TSC is their Hi-Protein dog food. And like was stated before, if you need a top-link, or a 3pt hitch part for your tractor they have that kind of stuff in stock. It's a cool store to waste some time in, the kind of place where you can go in just to kill some time and walk out with something because you didn't realize you could use that "thing" until you saw it.
Best price on a rubber bed mat I could find. Pretty good for air compressors too, they carry IR. You can sometimes find a 'deal', but fun to wander anyway.
the big bags of sunflower seed were a seasonal thing, but I think they quit ordering them or at least at my store they stopped b/c they didn't sell enough of it.
They also have good deals on water troughs, round pen panels, and fencing materials. I got in trouble when I worked there b/c my uncle bought a bunch of fencing materials w/ my discount(15%) and apparently even if they only give a 10% discount on fencing they lose a pretty good bit of money. They didn't like that too much.. LOL. They no longer give employee discounts on such items. haha

That is the reason I had to quit selling gates, round pens, feeders, fencing, water troughs, feeders, and the rest of the farm equipement. I can't compete with their prices. They are doing to my buisness what Wal mart did to the small stores. I guess that is the way of the future.

Ouch, I'm sorry to hear that man. It sucks for all the small businesses when these bigger stores come in. We used to have a few little hardware stores around here and as soon as home depot came in all the small stores were gone within the month. It's really a sad thing to see.

Yea, I watch stores around here close almost every day. Heck, I don't know how long I will be open. Things are not so good right now. But it is cheaper to go to the big stores for most of what you need.
I have to admit, I do pop in from time to time with the big stores, Lowes, H-D but most of my parts for the house come from the small independents around here, their close too. Rick, open up a store out here, we'll buy from yaa...
Rick, I do feel for you. I should have mentioned in my post that I wouldn't buy any tractor parts from them. Like Wally World, HD and the others people are often lulled into the 'cheaper is better' mentality. But sooner or later people will come to find the service and quality are missing from these stores. They are so big they can dictate to the suppliers, a DeWalt drill or Moen faucet sold by HD is NOT the same as what a small outlet sells. Heck, you probably pay as much as what they sell things for.... The trouble is that by the time people wake up, their 'bargain' has rusted away and the good store is gone. Not only that but the manufacturers that didn't bend to their demand for a more cheaply made product are also gone.
Hate to say it, but that is why we have such a hollow economy now. Quality and service used to rule..... Hopefully you can hold on long enough for people to come to their senses!
I do understand that I may be a little more expensive then the big stores on some things. I also understand in this economy we all need to watch our pennies. I should find out in the next month or two if I will be able to stay open or have to close. I do have a nice can crusher that my dad made years ago, and I am putting it to use these last couple weeks. lol.
