funny thing is it shifts perfectly. i doubt the steering column is an issue but i'll pop it off anyway just to be sure.

i ordered the rear pumpkin sensor last night, hopfully it comes in soon.

where is the OSS sensor located?

The rear sensor performs double duty. It's handles the speed sensor and the rear ABS sensor duty. I had very similar behaviors as you discribed, ABS light coming on/off and a few speedo issues...replaced the rear ABS/Speed sensor and no more problems. I tried to find a local shop that could rear the ABS codes....no luck. With the speedo issue It was a logical guess the problem was the rear sensor. Hope it fixes the problem. Let us know.

When the wires first become worn and exposed in the steering column, there is very little micro-second metal to metal contact and it could cause what you're seeing. Especially when hitting a slight bump in the road and that micro-second metal to metal might occur with the steering column moving ever so slightly. If you go exploring around the steering column looking for an exposed wire, keep in mind that it might be a very small worn spot, easily overlooked.

i'll pull the collum apart tonight and inspect it.

i ordered the rear sensor last night, this problem is getting worse though.

so question...what would happen if i disconnected the sensor? i know when you disconnect like the MAF it will go into a limp mode and run off a computer program for air/fuel often running rich to keep from hurting the motor. would i be able to do the same thing in this case in the few days before the sensor comes in? or should i park it and drive one of my other trucks?

ok, so i went ahead and unplugged the sensor. ofcourse i have no ABS but! after driving about 10 miles the "miss" toatly went away. i ran the same strech of highway about 10 times in o/d when it normaly would do it at the speeds it would normaly do it..its gone! so it has to be that sensor sending a funky signal and either locking and unlocking the TQ converter or somthing else??

so i'll leave it unplugged untill the new sensor shows up.

ok, so the new sensor came in. NO change. same issue speedo dropping and ABS light. seems to do it whenever i give it more then 30% throttle i get it to do it every time if i lay into the gas.

now my question is what other sensors could it be? either front wheel? would that effect the speedo though?

i was thinking about it, i dont remeber this issue before i put my lift shackles on. so i checked the wires going to the front sensors and they looked fine..not streched or pulled from what i can tell.

anymore ideas? i'm kinda clueless now. i left the rear sensor unplugged so atleast the speedo will be correct just wont have ABS.

ya wouldnt be a problem it should read yours fine since its got the ford enhanced, maybe we can see if its got a soft code or something, there is also abs tests and that would use the sensors.

yeah. i may very well take you up on the offer. one other thing i've noticed is when this is all happening my lights flicker for just a split second. like the abs system is trying to activate? or testing itself? seems odd. i have a feeling its a front sensor though.

no, but i have pulled the rear sensor on the pumpkin(been like that for over a week now) and its fine..speedo never does anything weird. i just have a constant ABS light and no ABS but thats because the sensor is disconnected.

If you want to inactivated the abs there is a big maxi fuse in the panel that will do it, 60 amp.
I don't think it would be the front abs either. When I had front sensor problems I in no way had other symptoms. Like Buno is suggesting, run tha AE on it and pull what codes there are. Might be able to get the right sensor. It will check the full line up, just do the full system scan.
How clean is your fuel filter, air filter and MAF?

with the rear sensor disconnected the ABS is deactivated. i'd like to figure this out though.

air filter is clean, no clue on the fuel filter, i should clean the MAF.

OK i wanted to update this...its been FIXED!

i screwed up. when i installed the new rear pumpkin sensor i did not disconnect the battery. so for however long i've been driving without ABS all i had to do was reconnect the sensor and disconnect the battery.

so it was the rear pumpkin sensor! $20 fix ABS and speedo are working flawlessly for over 100 miles so far since doing this.
