I have a 03 4x4 f350 with a 7.3 and would like to leval front end. I've seen all kits for levaling. Some with coil spring spacers, new leaf springs, and others with a shackle bracket. What would a good one(type and manufactor) to use.
Thanks,
Ed
1st, you dont have coil springs so the coil spring spacer is out. now, you have 4 ways of doing a leveling kit on your truck. theres the shackle like you said, but ive heard of those things breaking. never good when that happens. second is a cheap short leaf block that is sold on ebay. its made of leaf springs parts, but its only like 6" long. also a bad choice unless you dont mind dying. third is a leaf pack leveling kit. its like 4 leafs or so that go between the axle and the leaf, but they are long, so you wont get axle wrap when breaking. fourth is imo the ONLY option. and thats a add a leaf. its $80, gives you about 2" of lift, safe and better looking. also you dont have to get new front u bolts or anything else for it to work. tough country i believe is who i got my 2 sets though. actually, im looking at your location and were not too far apart. ive got 2 brand new sets here that i ended up not using. if your interested, i can save you the shipping if you wanna buy a set or two from me. if not, i got mine from ebay. they were 80 plus 20 shipping each pair. still a good deal
I also hate the stink bug, nose down look. I recently bought a kit off of eBay (from Sandersons Welding). It is a 2" mini spring pack with a new adjustable track/panhard bar. (for proper alignment) It was $190 total shipped. I think it was a good investment. I can now clear LT315/75R16 (35's) tires!!!
yep, thats the block made out of leafs i was telling you about. the dangerous choice imo.
Of course complete new springs would be best depending on your budget. 2" isn't going to kill anyone. I could see 4-6" being dangerous because that would cause extreme leverage stress on your front end. That's probably why you don't see those for sale. There are thousands of trucks out there with 1-2" front mini packs. It ain't going to kill you. If you want to go that route, then ANY lifted truck should be considered dangerous.
Extended shackel kits ARE proven to be dangerous, there are several pics out there of rolled over Superduties because of those.
you can not compair a full spring and a mili pack. What are you most likely to twist your ancle on, a snow shoe or a high heal? The long leafs cause a million times less twist dduring breaking and 4x4ing. A add a leaf is 1/2 the price and 20 tmes safer.

Please take the time to read my post. I agreed with you, or did you not see that?
Add-a-leafs are ok, but cause two undesired effects:
1. They make the front end of your truck real springy/boingy. it gets annoying fast.
2. Inconsistant lift hights.
