Guys most know my truck. 06 FX4 I noticed this a few times. I picked up my pass side floor mat and my carpet is wet. What could it be??? This is killing me.
I have to go look at my truck to see where the evaporater is. Could be coming from the evaporator/heater core box. I think that it would drain into the pass side. The drainage tube can get clogged up. I know click and clack have covered this one on various makes and models. If this is the problem it is a cheap and fast fix. Had this problem on my wifes honda several years back and found that when I shoved a coat hanger up the black tube coming out from under the vehical the problem went away. I also got a sleave of nasty water as confirmation.
Yeah it looks like it's on the pass side behind the glovebox. I can't see where the drain is coming out. One other thought I had was that if you don't smell antifreeze that eliminates the heater core.
a few years ago my pass side floor was damp, couldnt figure it out til eventually the truck died and was towed to the dealership. i had a sub and amp installed (by pros) who ran the power wire down the firewall to the battery. too bad they didnt bother putting in a grommet where it went through....any rain water ran off the hood into the crack where hood meets fender, then along the power line into the dash, dripped down onto one of the trucks main computers, then onto the floor. hope thats not your problem! very costly mistake.
On that note i did have a power inverter installed 2 years ago.. never thought about that, i'll see where the wires are ran. Also COF, i'll check that tube tomorrow.
if it is not the heater core or bad grommet i would check the third brake light. these years are notorious for that seal going bad. that too is an easy fix. a tube of silicone and your done. i repaired mine by putting in an aftermarket light and it fixed the problem.no more wet carpets
FWIW, the TSB lists 2004-2006 but this fix worked on my 07 too. You just have to cut thru the insulation shield that Ford kindly puts on the firewall. Regardless of the year, be prepared for some bloody knuckles. It's a tight squeeze in there...
