Looking for the Ford OE part # for the Alternator Regulator with the Blue and/or Red printing on cover.
According to '81 Ford EVTM: the Blue printed piece is used with factory equipped Ammeter

Anyone with an '81 and a factory-equipped Ammeter: what is the part # for your Regulator?
My 1981 F100 has the factory guages which include the ammeter. I just ordered a new
regulator for it from TitusWill Ford parts. The PN for the new one is FOPZ10316A. I
think this is the Motorcraft replacement for the original. The color of mine is blue.
If you want the original number I will try to locate the regulator and see what number
is on it. NumberDummy might have more information for you.

Alternator regulators:
1963/73: C3SZ10316A (black cover) which was replaced by D4TZ10316A (blue cover) in 1974, used thru 1981.
In 1982, Ford replaced D4TZ10316A with an ELECTRONIC solid state regulator = E2PZ10316A This regulator has a flat aluminum cover with MOTORCRAFT embossed on it.
In 1990, Ford replaced E2PZ10316A with FOPZ10316A This is the current part number and looks the same as E2PZ.
Thanks for the info. I was entertaining the notion of making the warning light system into an ammeter system, but have since abandoned that idea. Way-way too much trouble. I'll remove the ammeter from the cluster and install a voltmeter. Much easier and better information. I appreciate your help.
