Recently purchased a 2007 F250 diesel and the back light for the tach and speed o
are not working.
other lights on guages are working and the red needle light comes on just can`t see the speed or RPM`.
Looking for info on dash lighting.
If the other guage lighting is working it may also be bulbs. Here is a link to a thread that includes dash removal instructions with pictures. It is relatively easy to do (I've had mine apart a few times). This will allow you access to the IP where you can access the bulbs if that ends up being the culprit.
I have an 06 and it seems that randomly my headlight switch goes dark and the rest of the guages are fine, with the lights on of course. Sometimes they're on, sometimes off. Never consistent. Still trying to figure this one out, although I havent done much to analyze what's going on. Its just so random.
Had the same problem with the lights on the right hand side of my cluster on my 06. Ended up tapping on the cluster with the handle of a screw driver and the lights went on. Don't know if something was loose or covered by dust/dirt but it fixed it, been working for almost a year now. Also had same problem on an old Jeep, fixed the same way. Good luck
I also recently bought an 07 F250 and lights were burnt out. I couldn't find any info on type of bulbs to replace them with. I ended up just going to the local junk yard and pulling bulbs from 99 or newer ford instrument clusters. Now I have enough to do 3 clusters.
I had an issue with Instrument lights and tail lights go out. It ended up being a fuse that was titled Trailer Tow Lighting or something like that. If this seems to be similar I will figure out which specific fuse it was for ya. Good Luck, hopefully its just new bulbs ya need!
Follow up from last week.
Turns out that the bulbs in the dash cluster were burnt out.
Pulled off the cluster no problem and checked the bulbs 7 of the 12 were bad.
I'm sure there must be a special tool to remove the bulb socket but I used a small precision screw driver.
You have to carefully lift up the two small tabs as you rotate the socket counter clockwise.
I lifted one side at a time and kept some turning pressure on when I went to the other side and they came right out.
Swapped the bulb and reinstall by pushing down slightly and turning clockwise they popped right into place.
Bulb info
Call my local Ford dealer for the bulb.
Tech told me they would have to order them in and they were $12.44 each.
I needed 7 so asked him if he was serious and he was.
Told him to take a hike.
Booted down to a local electronics shop who were happy to sell them to me at $1.00 each. WOW
The bulb is an L-28 / 12v 30 milliamps
All lights on looks great.
