I guess I don't want to try the donor frame. The TCI sounds good and probably isn't too out of line on price when you add everything up. I like to fabricate though & I think that I would be missing out on some of the fun if I did that. Does anyone have experience with airbags? Is there a kit? Thanks for all of the information so far!
As far as the lightning engine goes, the PATS system worries me there. The PATS has to be married to the instrument cluster as far as I know, and I want to keep the old look of the dash. Also, I was thinking an explorer rear end. It already has good disk brakes and I can practically choose my gear ratio. I don't know how many splines the axles are though. Probably only 28. 31 would be do-able.
you gotta come up with a plan based on how mutch you want to spend, roughly add up the costs of the major components, then decide wich route to take, there are air bag kits available or you can custom build them, check sites like no limit, mid fifties for components and there are many mini truck air bag companies out there with components and kits that you can use or modify for your frame.
i was wandering about the lincoln set up has anyone done this swap...does anyone have info what about a chevelle or an impala frame i have all those 3 available but i havent found any info on the net
I think you first need to figure out your priorities. 500+ HP and towing, airbags and towing are diametrically opposite directions.
I am setting up my 56 Panel to tow 7500#: Stock frame, dropped front axle with Toyota PS.
