my stock gauge has always ''worked'' but now it drops almost off the gauge when the revs go up just driving down the highway it sits at the very bottom... any gauge i have ever seen goes up with revs so im very worried as i use this truck as my daily driver i have searched the forum and all i have read say there low pressure does not change with revs
my gauge sits btwn the o and the r and never moves......i think as long as theirs 7psi of oil pressure, the gauge will register. If you really want to know whats going on with your oil pressure, youll almost need to get a real gauge...
The 7lbs thing is the sending unit, and from what i was told at NAPA its 9 but it makes little difference. I know my gauge in my dent works, the origional sending unit that came on the diesel would just peg my gauge now that i have the older "variable" sending unit my gauge works normal agian, pegs when its cold, drops to med-low when warm at idle and sits mid high while cruising.
It does sound troubling none-the-less. I would hit wally world for a cheap mechanical gauge and find out what is goin on, possible the oil pump is on its last legs, or a bad bearing.
i bought this set and it works great. i put the line for the oil pressure in the OEM location underneath the air cleaner near the CDR take out the OEM sending unit there is an adapter underneath the sending unit leave the adapter in and the brass cap will thread on there. mine runs 20 psi warm idle 40 psi cruising rpm (1700-2000 rpm) and 40+ psi cold start.
