thats y i said ish but i want the dana 60 front end but i cant seem to find anything around where i am im looking in near by states too and i come up with nothing.
If you want a solid front axle, you will have to look at late 85 trucks and up. All early 85 and down f350's had the dana 50 front axle, even if they are dually.
Do you want a pickup or it doesn't matter? You will have to be careful looking at these type trucks, because if you find one with a utility bed on it, and you plan on putting a dually pickup bed on it, the pickup bed won't fit if it's a chassis/cab truck. Same with converting a pickup to the dually. The rearend needs to be a pickup dually rearend, the chassis/cab dually rearend won't fit a pickup frame.
I work with a guy that has a 89 f350 4x4 dually chassis/cab with a small dump body on it. These trucks are handy to have around, and we had a hard time finding one this style in a 4x4. We got this one and the cab had a lot of rot in it, but it's all we could find at a reasonable price. People that have them want to keep them, and when they do sell, they want a lot of money for them.
That really complicates things. I would really like a pickup and i dont have much of a need for a supercab i just really like these old trucks and want the dana 60 rear end and the simplicity of the 6.9

Are you confusing supercab with chassis/cab? A chassis/cab came from the factory with just the front sheetmetal and the bare frame rails sticking out the back. Most I have seen are just regular cabs. The frame is narrower in the rear, is flat, and is doubled up for strength. If you don't mind running some sort of flat bed in the back, these trucks can serve you well and haul a heavy load. You will find them used as small dump trucks, wrecker trucks, ultility trucks, and you can find them on farms with all sorts of different things mounted to the back frame rails.
so the chasis/cab have narrower frame rails? that doesnt make much sense but i guess for heavier loads i could help keep the weight on the rails and not in the crossmembers. can you adapt a bed to fit?
Drilling some holes and a little head scratching, you might be able to get it to fit, but I don't know if the dually fenders not being filled out would make it look bad. I am not even sure if it would not rub on the inside of the dually bed. The chassis/cab rearend is 4 inches narrower than a dually pickup rearend.
