Congrats!

Curious about the service plan. Do you have that as a line item on your bill or is it just thrown in for free? I know some dealerships always try to stick you with something saying it's their policy or just what they do.

Last few things I remember that I got taken off on previous cars were:

$300 - Mandatory window etching
$100 - Oil changes
$50 - Service Experience
$10 - Dealership Comfort
$75 - Test Drive

1/2 off the sticker? Geez, I thought 35% off was pretty good when I got mine.

Service experience? Dealership comfort? Test drive? Seriously? It would've taken me a few minutes to get those taken off the bill... I would've had to quit laughing uncontrollably and rolling around on the floor.

as for the service plan, we got a advantage plan "card". kinda like the advanced auto card you get, or an ACE rewards card from the hardware store. along with a booklet to put our receipts in after the service has been done. when we go in for the oil changes, they scan the cards bar code, and it's loaded in the computer. after the third oil change, they can scan the card, and it just becomes like a rewards card.

as for cost, we hashed out the sticker cost down to $500 under dealer invoice (yes i saw the actual dealer invoice), plus 6500 on the XLT rebate, 1000 trade in allowance rebate, 1000 off for FMC finance rebate ($8500 in total rebates after the 500 under invoice), then to my trade in, we hashed out the price they were giving me for the minivan, and after it was all said and done i signed the papers for a little over 18K out the door, PLUS a free bed mat (not a huge deal, but something else added in), and a full tank of gas.

my wife vows never to come with me again, but it was all worth it. we went back and forth for for about 7 hours on numbers, showed up around 10:30am or so, and left at 5:30 on the dot!

That window etching is a hoot. I caught the $200 "Theft Transfer Fee" on the purchase agreement for my truck and called the sales guy on the carpet about it. He mumbled something about don't worry about it, insurance rates, payback, blah blah blah. I told him I didn't want it and made him take it off. I picked up the truck and the glass was etched already but I sure as heck wasn't gonna pay for that crap.

One of my friends has been a diehard chevy guy for over 50 years. It was so bad he wouldn't even let me park in the driveway. When GM got in the welfare line he wouldn't talk to me for a while there. It was always fun joking with him. A few months ago his 98 K2500 was totalled by a suicidal deer. He couldn't support the welfare anymore than he already does. He bought a new leftover '09 F150 and he loves it. He still has his old Nova and an Impala that are in very good shape, but he said a lot of his friends didn't believe him when he told them he bought an F150. I thought it was great!
I had something close to that happen last week. A guy I work with is a big chove-it-or-leave-it-lay guy. He had been ragging me since he started about my dakota I had and talked all sorts of crap about my 55. Well he called me the other day and told me he had bought a new truck. So I thought I was going to hear about this great new generic motors truck he bought when he finally admitted that he bought a ford. HE said he went and test drove all 3 brands and the ford was the best riding truck he had ever been in, so now I get to rub it in his face every time he questions me about something...lol

Nice! Good to see converts to the right side! I've got another friend that is a diehard chevy diesel guy too... in fact he was trying to convert one of my diehard ford friends by sending him pictures of all the chummies for sale. It was hilarious. My friend would send him all kinds of pictures back, including the output end of cow.

My brother-in-law retired from GM's Kalamazoo, MI stamping plant when GM shuttered it, and he's driven Fords for over 40 years.

No doubt Ford is #1

What Ford is doing right now. They are totally on top of their game. I own a dodge, and a Toyota and my next vehicle this spring will be a F150. I drove both Chevy and dodge trucks and they are not in the same league as Ford!

I tried to buy a Dodge Ram in December. They could not touch the Ford Lariat for the price or the options. I tried to buy a GM Sierra also. Again they could not touch the Ford for price, comfort or options. Ford beat Dodge for fuel mileage but GM had 1-2 more GPM then my new Lariat did. I could not get the color I wanted, I could not get the options I wanted and Ford was still 8K less than the GM was and my trade got 3K more at Ford. Sorry, but I am driving Ford for the next 5 years. I am looking at the Buick Lacrosse for my wife right now though. Pretty car gets 30MPG with 265HP. Not bad.
