I tried to do a search on this but it got me more confused.
My wife took my truck out today to fill it up before a trip and it was not blowing heat. I checked the coolant and the degas bottle was empty with a muddy muck in the bottom. loosened the top hose and it looked like mud I have not seen any white smoke out the tailpipe.
Iwas thinking it's the EGR cooler or the oil cooler (but the coolent was low) and im curently looking at a EGR delete kit. Is this the first step what is the likelihood it could be the head gaskets?
part 2 what EGR delete are you guys running? and should/ do I need an oil cooler ?
I think I read that that is oil mixing with the coolant. They said you have to tear the motor apart and have the thing cleaned out. all new hoses and all sort of other really bad things. it sounds like it's very bad deal It's on here some where. good luck.https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...0-trouble.html ( found it) sorry its not a good read
99.99% chance your oil cooler failed and pumped your cooling system full of oil. If you don't want to do a complete engine teardown to clean the mess out you can try flushing the system after you repair the oil cooler. You will need all new hoses as the oil destroys them internally.
I was so concerned with the oil cooler and EGR cooler I did not think about the hoses. this is going to cost more than i thought.
I am going to do the work myself its not the work I'm worried about its the parts cost.
