I just bought a 2002 7.3 F350. I have been reading tons of threads on this forum and saw that coolant must have proper levels of sca. So I tested mine and it shows that I need to recharge it.
From what the test kit says I need about 2 pints. I am looking for a place to buy it and it seems like no auto parts stores like autozone or adavance has it. Do I need to go to the dealer?
Same stuff as Greg. The PO had plain Jane green coolant so when I tested it showed recharge now. A full 16 oz bottle of Napa Kool went into the Degas bottle. I drove it around 20 miles, let it cool and rechecked. The strip showed perfect balance. That was around 2000 miles ago and no change. I check it once a month with the rest of the fluids, and when I drain the fuel/water separator.
To the OP, you might want to just change the coolant if you do not know the history of previous owner maintenance. The 02's came with the gold coolant, but many here have changed to a varity of the ELC's.
