Oil level question

When I got my new to me F250, the PO told me he would only put 14 qts at each change. He said with 15 he could tell the engine ran rougher. Anyone ever hear this?

Welcome to FTE.

14 quarts is about what it takes to fill up. You never get all the oil out of the engine and the oil cooler. As long as it shows full on the stick, you are good to go.

What type of oil and where do you live?

Mine usually takes 13-14 quarts to show full on the dip stick with a filter change.

Mine also usually takes about 14 quarts at each oil change. 15 usually puts it right above the crosshatches on the dipstick.

I switched for the first time, 141,000 on the truck, this last oil change to T6 and am happy with it. The engine seems to run quieter and on cold days so far I haven't had the romps since the switch.

Shouldn't be a problem at all. In fact, the truck will probably start a little easier in really cold weather. Of course, that's Dallas.... so cold is what, 30 degrees????

with 210k on mine i over fill her a lil becuase i know she burns it, and it put about 15.5qts in each change. i think 15qts would be perfect on mine. i would just say keep an eye on your oil level i have let mine get low once and she didnt run very well till i topped her off

No, that's D@#* Cold around here. My wife starts complaining about 58. She wants to move somewhere warmer. Personally, I think about 40 is good camping weather.

With a long drain time, filter change, and emptying the HPOP I put 4 gallons in mine. It takes the level right to the full mark on the dipstick.
