I have a 2003 F250 7.3litre. It's been in the shop for the last 7 weeks (ARGH!!!) the mechanic now has it completed but says it only hits
10 psi of boost pressure. I took my chip off 2 months ago and the truck was running fine and boost pressure was fine also.
He says that it is not throwing any codes and nothing pops up in the scanner. He can't find anything wrong with the turbo or anything. Anybody have any ideas? I want my truck back, I can't enjoy my life without it. That truck pulls my toys and without it I can't ride. The little ol' Jeep won't even think of pulling my sleds. PLEASE HELP!!!
Step 1. Get it out of the shop.
Step 2. Look for info on how to build a boost leak detector (its cheap and easy).
Step 3. Build the boost leak detector
Step 4. Find/fix leaks
do a boost leak check (or have him do it). there are a lot of threads on hear about how to do that....you can also look at my pictures for how i did it.
The cam gear needed replaced. I didn't have the equipment to do it. I don't know how he went about doing the work. I know that the motor had to come out and that's all he told me.
Before you start freaking out, just get the truck out of the shop. I don't know if its a shop you know or trust, but there is always the possibility he's trying to pull a fast one on you.

I started freaking out in October when it went down. As for trust, I dunno. He cam e recommended and is the only diesel mechanic in the area, other than the Ford Dealer and we all know you can't trust them. I'm just tired of getting hit with chit ***** every time I turn a corner.
Gotta be a boost leak. Just cause he said he checked doesn't mean he checked it right. And if its something else than HE is the one who effed it up!!!
P.S. I would consider not paying the bill until you find out what is wrong. If you pay the bill and find out he messed it up you prob wont get your money back. Just a thought.
I'm going there tonight. If I don't get out on my sled this weekend, I'm gonna kill somebody and I'm gonna take 7 weeks to do it.
Mine's not even close to being ready to go, need to find a can for the wife's sled and a few other things. Most importantly, I need to find the TIME to finish them up!
