Excursion / expedition overhead console

First of all I love the site and my new/used 00 EX. My daughter somehow (it may of be broke already) pulled and broke the main overhead/map light in the overhead console. I have been looking around and the expedition 97 to about 03 looks the same. I can get one from ebay pretty cheap compared to the one for the EX. Anyone do this or know part numbers or where I can get part numbers to compare?

I believe they are the same. I think I saw one at the salvage yard on an Expy, and thought to myself "that looks just like the one in my X". Other than that I have no first-hand info to back up that claim. Sorry.

it is the same that is what i used to fix mine.. the only difference is the mpg computer and the rear vent switches other than that the console is the same. i picked up an entire console off ebay for around 30 shipped swapped out the parts that were broken on mine and resold the console with the broken parts for more than i paid origionally.. never know what someone might need..

They are made from the same mold for sure. I had purchased one off of ebay that came off of an Expedition so I could fix one of the sunglasses doors. The color may be slightly different. I know the lens color on the computer off the Expedition is blue where the Excursion is green. I can't say if the trip computer is calibrated the same. I didn't change it. I only changed the outer plastic trim.

Yeah, it did look cool. Then I realized that it didn't match my digital odometer color and switched it back to green. I sold it on CL to a guy wanting to replace the dome lights.

what are all the things the ditital odo does over the mechanical/digital? does it have different features, or just the total miles driven?

nothing, the digital one actuly kinda sucks because you can only see the odo or miles driven(trip) but not both at the same time like the mechanical one. also if your battery goes dead you loose your tripomiter(sp) reading and it goes back to 0.

the 99-up expeditons will have a green display the 97-98s had the blueish.

i bet it would be easy to swap the clusters since the mechanical one is ran off a stepper motor so its actually a digital signal probably would have to change the plugs tho since the plugs going into the cluster might be different, i would have to see the mitchel pinouts

yeah i think it would be a big pain in the butt for not much gain..actuly none. other thing is the 02-05's have a trans temp gauge in them.

without looking, i think you loose the voltage gauge and gain the trans temp gauge on the 02-05s.
