Knock Sensor TSB

I just got a notification by the dealer that they got a TSB to install a knock sensor on the 6.7 to help it run better. Anyone else heard of this or had this done? I can't believe it wouldn't already have on being turbocharged.

A knock sensor on a diesel? Don't they knock by design?

This doesn't make sense to me. Isn't a knock sensor used to advance or retard timing for the spark? Unless it has something to do with the pilot injection, I can't see how it would apply to the 6.7L.

Nope, no such TSB exists. The last TSB issued for the 11's was 10-23-9 6.7L - CALIBRATION UPDATE - VARIOUS ISSUES - BUILT ON OR BEFORE 11/5/2010.

that's exactly what it does on a turbo gas engine anyway. Knock is terribly bad for those especially under boost. If there is knock due to poor fuel, lean conditions etc it will retard the timing to prevent damage. On a diesel I have no idea. I will see if I can get more info.

Weird don't know why they would notify of something that doesn't exist.

i got an email from a dealer rep telling me there was a tsb on the knock sensor and that they would take care of it when i bring it in for another issue. this is not a recall they were simply notifying me of a tsb. i'm just relaying information that was given to me by my dealer. since you are a ford master technician it should be easier for you to get the tsb # than most anyone else.

yes but only if I know about it. the tsb would tell what it really belongs to. I know its not a 6.7

ez there super....He is trying to help. If your dealer gave you the TSB number and you can post it, he can verify and fill in the blanks. He can not find a TSB that does not appear in the system

Regards

Edit: as you can see, Mo surely does not need my help

i'll bet with all the emission crap it's a NOx sensor TSB. the email says knock sensor but i bet they meant NOx. i'll find out for sure and post it in a couple weeks if someone doesn't look it up and post it before then.
