I was a Sergeant in the Marines at the time when the internet became mainstream. I needed a hotmail account which was one of the first free emails so I submitted "Sgt" for my screen name and it came back as taken "how about Sgt93?". It worked out great because I joined the Corps in 93 and I have used it ever since then.
On a side note, I got out of the Marines a SSgt after 12 years of service. I got out for my family and became a Police Officer. I miss the Corps something fierce. Some of the best people I have ever worked with
I have been using wiedsworld since 2000, I was stationed in Hawaii (rough tour, ha ha) and the wied is the first 4 letters of my last name and world speaks for itself, it is my world and the rest of the people are just living in it!
SGT93, I thought 10 years was the point of no return...I'm sure things are different now with the ops-tempo...I joined AF in 1983 and did 23 years and I'm glad I stuck it out for the retirement, but it would be hard to join todays military and do 20 with all the deployments!
My buddy's nicknamed my old truck the silver bullet (the carpet behind the gas pedal was worn out on my ol' V10), coupled with the fact that coors light was usually all I ever drank.
Ty Webb is Chevy Chase's name in Caddy Shack - everyone say's I look like him and when I wanted to give the ladies a fake name they seemed to buy it I am long married now and don't get to use it anymore except for screen names. OH, for the good ole days!
I used to have a 98 F150 that I sup'd up a bit to hit the dragstrip. My buddy came up with the handle "Blown2run" as the truck was "blown"(supercharged) to run down the strip. Just stuck with that handle as it is easier to remember. I guess I can now be called Blown2tow.lol
Nickname I got in high school due to my ability to drink excessively while still maintaining my composure. And it just so happens that it rhymes with my last name.
I own a 2002 Harley Davidson Deuce called Scorpion. The Harley name came from buying a second Harley seat sold as Scorpion stitching, then on to a scorpion engraved in the derby cover. When I found out the 6.7 engine is called Scorpion I knew it was fate .
Spook is the name of my horse as that's what he does best. Spook was taken as a screen name so I added 22 as that was my football number and spook22 was taken, so I added another. Love this forum!
720Deere was the first screen name I ever came up with. It was an antique John Deere forum and I do antique pulling with a model 720 diesel circa 1957.
That's cool. Got any photos of your JD720? I would love to see them.
Mine is simply a nickname from college.... My last name is "Gaskins" and it was quickly shortened to "gascan". My friends at work still use the name at times as well. Sometimes they will say, " Are you a gascan today or a gascan't "
-gascan
Oh, BTW I think this is a very interesting thread.
Interesting..... Aren't you worried that your Danes will eat the Jack Russell for a snack?
Nope... she keeps the big boys in line! The Jack Russell is 14 years old while the Danes are both 5. Neither of them mess with her unless they want 14lbs of terrier hanging off their jowls... BTW the Danes are 195lbs and 165lbs
