I have a 99 f250 v10 114K miles, question: when in drive sitting still there is some kinda noise like something is rattling when in park it goes away only in drive or reverse does anyone know what this may be, thanks?
Without hearing it it's hard to say but it could just be the exaust or one of the heat shields. Best thing to do would get someone to help you and set the e-brake chock the wheels have someone get in and put there foot on the brake put it in drive and you get under there and check it out.
just bought the truck went through the front end and replaced vacum seals, and installed new hub assy's with warn hubs. Truck is a pulling machine, hooked up 25' tow hauler loaded approx 7k # and didn't even know it was back there. I was pulling it with my o1 f150 5.4 what a difference WOW.
Check those exhaust heat shields, and the bellhousing access cover. If it gets louder and you still can't find it, '99 is a good year for a cracked flexplate.
Hello, I had the exact same thing in my truck with 70000 miles, I checked the exhaust and the bell housing cover. Nothing was loose. I finally took it to my ford garage, the tech. told me that some of these older trucks, that the torque converter's were bad. And that he had a service bulliten about them. I was told I had to replace the torque converter. Which was a little over $900. Luckly I had bought an extended warrenty which paid for most of it, and I only had to pay about $250. Now it is nice and quiet.
