Carb and manifold suggestions

got a 78 4x4 with a 351m bored 30 over, im looking to upgrade it to a 408. ive been looking at the weiand intake for it and the holley truck avenger 670. i was wondering if anyone has that carb, and what their thoughts are on it. I was wondering what you guys are using in trucks. Thanks

From TMI's final words:

2) How do the available intakes compare?

When it came right down to it, the small runner Edelbrock I liked the

best. Now if it had a bigger cam the Weiand maybe a better choice. I

think the Holley could use more cam and RPM.

4) How big of carb. do you really need?

The 600 Holley was to small. A toss up between the 650 and 700

Holley. This will depend on your camshaft and intake. I think for just

a street application, a 750 would be to large, But if raced it would be a

good starting point.

I use the Eddy 2171 intake and Holley 650 80-783C...great combo IMO.

Engine Testing With A Holley 750 Street HP Carburetor - Classic Trucks Magazine

Check out the torque curve. Not much difference up to 3200 rpm where you drive 90% of the time. Seems as though Ford knew what they were doing.
