I have been searching for an answer all over the net but to no avail. Is it bad to start my truck without tranny fluid? The tranny is shot and waiting to get enough bucks to rebuild. I just don't want to let my truck sit without starting it at least once a week. I've done to much work to it all ready to let it sit.
Manual or auto trans?
Manual trans can sieze up internally without lube, but you could run it as long as you want with the clutch depressed.
Auto trans can burn up the pump, and rather quickly. However, you could get under the truck and unbolt the torque convertor from the flexplate and disengage it. That would allow the engine to run without damaging the transmission.
Can't put tranny fluid in have the vb out and don't have the money to put some in yet. Thanks for the input. I think I'll just unbolt the TC like Rogue_Wulff
suggested. Thanks for the input. It is an AOD.
if the tranny is shot then what difference does it make , as you are planning to rebuild it anyway ! now if it was good then the answer would be YES you will destroy the torque converter , pump , a lot of other stuff in there !
