79 SnowFighter Alternator
I've got an opportunity to grab an alt. from a 79 SnowFighter, the rusted out carcus that it is in, had dual batteries at one time. Just wondering if its worth messing with or wait and do the 3g upgrade? It would be going in my 78 F250 4x4. Both trucks have a 400 in them. Thanks for the input.

Modern/one wire alt. from possibly a Tarus. More amperage out. Don't know all the specifics, there have been many post about it, still reasearching it myself.

The standard alternator is 60 amps, and the sno-fighter version is 100 if I remember correctly. They should be interchangeable as far as mounting brackets and wiring. If you could get it for cheap, it would be a nice upgrade so long as it's in decent shape. Spin it and see how the bearings feel. Regardless, a rebuild kit with new brushes and bearings should be dirt cheap.
