Ok... I have posted a few posts about a "skip" in my 2000 7.3l Manual trans F-350 it has 165k miles on it. This morning it was about 27 degrees so I started it after "wait to start" and the truck started very well for not being plugged in. The truck idled up and did the warm-up procedure where the turbo spools and everything. I let it warm up for about 10 mins and then started driving. The truck basically cut on and off for the first 2 mins of driving ( not literally but it felt like that because of the major skip it was having) the skip became more gentle after the first mile or so of driving however it was still able to be felt and heard.
I had a injector buzz test that passed and also a contribution test done and the scan tool (snap on brand) gave the code PO284 which I know means that cylinder 8 is failing.
My questions are...
*do all injectors need to be replaced when replacing one injector? (heard this before on this forum)
*Is it "normal" for a truck with regular oil changes to need a new injector at 165k?
*is it ok to go with re-man parts or definitely go for new?
Mitch, what color CPS are you running? Can you run a Cylinder Rotational Velocity test and let us know all your percentages as well? If you have a grey CPS I would swap it for a black before you spend the money on injectors.
