429 rebuild. Help!!!!!

429 rebuild. Help!!!!!

Here's the scoop. I believe I have a commercial 429 for obvious reasons. It came out of a dump truck. It don't have much info on it and I am new to rebuilds but am mechanically inclined. How can I turn this motor into a regular passenger truck motor. I'm reading all these threads about the snouts are to long and they got to be turned down and the keyways too. It's really confusing me. Almost discouraging! Is there any 429/460 cranks or kits I can use. Anything at all? I would appreciate any part numbers or leads or something. I posted some Picts of it on here maybe that would help. Ive got the top end broke down and I'll remove the crank in the morning. The valve covers have 7 bolts and it's a 2 barrel carb. Thanks guys

If you can get your hands on a 460 crank use it and just build a 460.

So I can turn it into a 460 or even a stroker?

Either go with a regular 429 crank, or a 460 crank, get the truck crank modified (turn down the snout, rekey, etc) the advantage of that is the steel crank from the truck motor will take TONS of abuse!

So I can just take my crank to my machine shop and have the turn down and rekey ect? Can I put in slightly longer rods After this and what type of pistons and cam do you think would be the best for a set up like this. Also will I have to change the timing cover in this rebuilt crank
