Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the numbers are on there front axle tag for a 95-97 Dana 60. It's the tag that is held on by the differential cover bolt. I need it for a reference. I need it ASAP Thanks in advance.
Yea I know I already have a d60 but I need to order all the seals for the front end and Ford needs that number so they can pull up the right exploded view to order the parts I need or something. My axle didn't come with the tag on it but i know its out of a 95
It would be a lot cheaper if you go to a bearing and seal place. We have 4 of them here where that's all they sell.
The inner axle seals have been upgraded so they will look a LOT different. Don't panic. And you don't hammer them in. Just slide the carrier back in and it will push them as deep as they need to go. It's kinda a PITA. Old ones were easier.
Hmmphf. My inner seals had to be tapped in. I used a long piece of allthread and a big washer. I didn't know they changed.
Also I agree on the seal place. I got all the stuff I needed from Randy's Ring and pinion online. Good deals and good prices. The calender with the girls is a bonus too. LOL
I have one of those plates with the numbers you are speking of from a 1997. I can try to remember to get it tonight for you but remember just call Randy's and they will hook you up with everything!
The 97 will have different hub seals on it. And brakes. 94 and most 95s are the same though. I have rebuilt a 94 and a 97 in the last month. FUN!
Those new seals are two piece crap. I hate them. I couldn't find a source anywhere for the ones that came out of it. They have superseeded the old ones everywhere. They seem to be holding up good though. The only weird thing really is they are a crush fit between the carrier and a step in the axle tube. That's why I said don't press them in. Just put them in at a little angle and work the carrier back in on them. With no instructions for them and 3 wasted seals trying to figure it out this is what I learned. They were expensive too!!!
I went and got that number for you from that plate last night but my internet went down last night at home and I forgot to bring that piece of paper with me today. Hopefully I will be able to post it for you tonight.
Hey thanks for all you advise and info I got the number off of one of my buddies trucks. If I can't get the seals at the dealer **** then I will be ordering them from randys ring and pinion. Also does anyone know if they sell the outter boots on the end of the u-joint ?
