ive been looking at new clutches and im a little confused. ive seen both 10" and 11" clutches for my year. which one will work im totally lost as to which one to get. its for my 89
i think the 11'' clutch is a heavy duty and the 10'' should be just a factory clutch that is probably cheaper then the 11'' so if you pull and haul alot use the 11'' but its been awhile since i had to get a clutch so im a little rusty on the sizes
you have to take your clutch out first to see what size is in your truck ! the flywheel may not be drilled for both ( as i dont remember if they will both bolt up to the same bolt hole pattern ) if they will then go for the larger one !
If your truck is an F-150 or LD F-250 it has a 10" clutch. If you have a HD F-250 or F-350 it has an 11" clutch. Your flywheel is drilled for both, as are all truck flywheels from 1983 & up. I upgraded mine to an 11" but my transmission is different than yours. Assuming that your bellhousing will clear the larger pressure plate it's a good upgrade. It will grip much better and I couldn't tell a difference in pedal pressure after the upgrade. You will need to pick up some slightly larger bolts to hold the pressure plate to the flywheel. Get your flywheel resurfaced and your ring gear flipped over. A good machine shop will do this for you. Use lock-tite on the pressure plate to flywheel bolts.
