heat question??

How long should it take to get to operating temp?? I started my truck at 525 let it sit and idle for 10 minutes. I drove to work. When I parked at 555 the temp was at the line above the C. Is this normal? This is the first morning that it has been any kind of cold since I got the truck. I noticed before that it took awhile to warm up but it didn't concern me when I was using the a/c

How cold are we talking? Idling will take a good while to bring temps up. Driving it for 30 minutes should have them up to operating temps. Ambient temp plays the factor in this.

At about 30-35 degrees I idle for less than 5 minutes and drive about 35mph for the first 4 miles. By mile 3 I'm turning the fan and heat down.

Hah! Now I'm wishing someone would come up with a heated steering wheel. Seems like that's always the last thing to get warm.
