95 f250 psd 5 spd 4x4 I want to change my fluid but I'm not sure what fluid I need my little tag on the rear end is gone so I can't tell what I have .it has 12 bolts can someone help me out here
You have a sterling 10.25" rear axle. It should take 75-140 synthetic. They have it at walmart at least that's what I use and it already has the friction modifier in it in case you have the limited slip. It was an option. Im not sure about the obs but on super dutys the axle code is also on the door
its something over 3 quarts, so you will need a gallon. Make sure you use the friction modifer additive if you have limited slip.
+1 Just because the bottle of fluid says that it can be used in a limited-slip differential does not mean that it already has a additive in it. You have to use a friction modifier if you have limited-slip.
Ford dealer is best for the additive. I think it was 2 of those little bottles they have that you need. Parts stores have it too but Ive never had good luck with it. Or you can use royal purple. They claim it has it in it already. I used it and the clutches are working like they should.
Redline synthetic. 75/140. Has the additive for the limited slip but there is a version of the oil that doesn't have the additive so check the label. Best there is. Use a gasket and Gasgacinch sealer. Follow the instructions on the can. It will never leak. Tighten the bolts in cross pattern. Torque to 20 ft lbs or so. Put a little gasgacinch on the bolts too. After you fill it drive a few miles and recheck the fluid level.
