Anyone with a 4x4 73-79 f100/150 v8, could you post some pics here to show me ways of routing an exhaust with headers? I have a 75 f100 4x4 with a 390/t18, and at some point i want to get headers. I just dont know which way ill have to run the pipes. I've seen both go below the cross member for the transfer case then back up between the frame and stay on each side of the truck instead of both coming to one side and then splitting again, and the the other way like i just said, route both of them through the right side of the cross member, then have them go to both sides again. I have no body lift, and the radius arms have not been dropped.
there are no fender wall exit headers for the FE...
there is a trhead on this somewhere, has lots of pix of peoples dual exhaust...
Hey Iv got a brand new set of hooker headers Ill be willing to part with if your intrested!!!
I just dont have the incentive to install them...
Yea if they made the fenderwells i'd pick up a set of those instead. It's usually the stuff you'd expect to find that isn't made.
Thanks for the offer but i'm still savin my money right now and already have a set picked out.
I looked at the post and i didnt really see much that helped me. Three of the pictures didnt show either. I just need to know if the fe headers come down far enough to be able to route the pipes down and around the cross member, and not both come to the same side. Cause like i said, i've seen pictures where they've done that, and then i've seen some where there was no way it'd work.
I got pics of a 4WD F-250 FE but they're at home with duals going over each side of the crossmember. I'll post later after work.
It gets REALLY close on the driver's side... I took the pics for reference before I made my system. In the end it didn't work for me cuz I went with 2.5s and the parking brake cable was too close for comfort. If I lived in the flatlands then I would likely forego using the parking brake at all.
When you say "if the fe headers come down far enough to be able to route the pipes down and around the cross member", do you mean OVER or UNDER the crossmember?
Btw, I run Hedman 89120s and the driver's collector locates inboard of the front driveshaft.
yea i mean under the cross member. like they bend down right after the header and go under it, then back up in between the frame rails.
And what i meant by where do the headers exit, does relate to your answer, but i also meant i guess it would be how close to the ground, or the vertical dimension...
I dont have a parking brake, so that wont matter for me.
also it says those headers only fit the 250s and 350s, so i dont think theyd work for me. the ones im lookin at is the flowtech 12542FLT set.
I've got the Hedman catalog (like dealers have) and they have it listed for FE-equipped F100/150s. I guess the best proof is that I have'em on my rig.
I'm not a big fan of routing the pipes under the crossmember...it totally kills ground clearance... looks crazy weird in profile too - like wearing underwear on the outside of my pants!
Btw,... I'm still at work... and goofing off online!!!...

Oh, i looked that part number up on summit and it said in the notes for 3/4 and 1 tons only. so unless the number got messed up somewhere here, it's just another one of them parts that can work for more than what it's made for i guess.
well they're the cheapest ones i can find i mean, and i'm not going all out money wise on this because its more for the performance and sound rather than looks
