E4OD Overdrive button

The end of my shift lever was ripped off before I bought the truck. I still have the assembly but there are two wires one green and one white. I want to get this working so I can use 3rd gear exclusively instead of it always shifting into overdrive. Anyone ever had this problem or know how I can fix it?

Pulled the switch apart and there isn't enough wire left to splice it.

I'm in the same boat.
Really wish I had it for going over the coast range.

It's also been suggested for use as long downhill braking assistance.

Makes sense.

I have an extra shifter that broke off by the steering column so hoping it can be spliced from that end, or weasel the wires out and hang a pushbutton somewhere else..maybe?

Hey, maybe there's a right way but I have no idea as of yet
