ok heres my problem my 91 f150 2wd 351 auto trans wont turn to the right at low speeds i replaced the power streering pump and it didnt fix the problem. the truck is high miles170,000 with all original steering parts what else could this be any help please.

 

did ya think to check the gear box? does the wheel turn to the right at all or does the vehicle just not steer right? if its all original, id say replace the tie rod ends first and possibly drag link then go to the gear box, figuring the gear box is about $175.

 

thanks for the reply ive never had a steering gear box go out so i dont no what it would feel like ,the tie rod ends and drag likn look ok the thing feels like no power assist turing right and fine assist turing left if that is a gear box thing is it a adjustment or a worn out part/gear,or did i get a bad rebuilt steering pump

 

I had the same problem a few years ago, turned to one side fine but no assist to the other.
It was with a reman steering box, naturally it was 1 month out of warranty. I tore apart and there are four or five square cut o-rings on the shaft going into the box, one was rolled around but I guess with high mileage yours are just worn.
You could buy a box for about $250 or fix yours if you feel OK with that and buy a seal kit for about $40.
Only special tool you'd need is a pitman arm puller.
If you do do it yourself, just watch the little ***** when you disassemble.

thank all it was the gear box i replaced it today (a dirty job) to bad i didnt have your input before i did the pump but thats a learning thing thanks again
