1994 f250 turbo diesel
Im having a problem with my 1994 ford f250 turbo diesel. I replaced the starter few weeks ago. The truck was starting fine until two days ago. Now when i first start the truck, if i dont press the gas pedal all the way for a couple seconds the truck wont stay on. I notice that im having a diesel leak by the fuel/water separator. The problem is that i dont know where the diesel is coming from. It looks like is coming from the top of the separator but im not sure. When i was looking around i found this line(look at picture) and its just sitting there. Its not connected to anything, im wondering if you guys knew whats connected to it? The yellow circles are the ends of the line. it looks like a gas line. Sorry about the quality of the pictures only had my phone.

that looks like a steel line if it is its the drain line. on the bottom of your filter there is a drain there should be a vale that you can turn by hand i am not 100% but i figured it was to drain water that has collected in filter somebody who knows more will tell you more but that steel line should conect to bottom off filter.

Your 1994 should have an aluminum bowl on the filter.
There's a brass **** on the bottom of the bowl with a fitting in the middle, its to drain water/sediment, goes out through the small line to the ground.
There's a small rubber hose from the barb in the middle of the brass **** to the metal line you see. This may be disconnected.
If you are seeing fuel on your rocker covers you probably need to tighten the **** to close the valve, you're loosing prime from your filter due to this.
The loss of prime will make starting hard as you have air in your filter.

Ok, while we're on the fuel filter....and since I'm new to the 7.3's,....is the changing of the fuel filter as simple as a spin off and spin on??? When I do it on my Mercedes Turbo Diesel, it's exactly that! There's a primer pump in the Mercedes....so is there one here? Or do I just fill the new filter with diesel fuel and spin the thang back on? Are there any water separator line I need to remove when changing the fuel filter? Any pictures would really help. Thanks.

Well, ya there's the water seperator line you originally posted about that isn't connected!
It only drains when you open the valve manually though, so don't be too concerned with it.
Make sure you disconnect the "Water In Fuel" sensor wire from the bottom of the sediment bowl before you take the filter off, or you'll break the wire. It just pulls off.
