BLOWING IGNITION FUSE WHEN SHIFT TO PARK

I am having some intermittent trouble with my 10 amp starter/ignition fuse. About once a month, I'll go to put the truck in Park, And the second it makes the shift, It blows my fuse. In turn I lose all my guages and the electronic throttle; So there I sit. I can't seem to reproduce it and it seems to be happening more frequent. I have been carrying a spare fuse and when I replace it, It will last for a couple weeks before it decides to blow again. It has never done it while driving, Only when shifting inot park. Has anyone had a problem with this? What would it have to do with shifting into Park? Can anyone point me in the right electrical direction?, Or show me where I can get a schematic? Thank you for your time.

Check the wires coming out of the shifter (for the OD light). You could have a short there. Search the forum for "OD Light".

Also, check the wires around the shifter linkage down the column. It's easy to pull the column shroud and investigate.

Oh yes, you have the common problem of the wires being exposed from wear,

and now they are touching metal in the steering column somewhere.

Thanks Jason, I came up with a mess of posts dealing with the OD switch wiring that is known to rub through under the steering column cover. I'll take that apart tommorrow.
