I have an 85 f150 w/ 33x12.50's and my tires rub on the radius arms. I'm planning on buying different rims, probably 15x10's, does anyone know how much offset I need to avoid rubbing on my radius arms? Also, anyone have any guesses as to how fast I am actually going when my speedometer reads 55? I'm just not sure how much my new 33" tires threw my speedometer off, seems like quite a bit. Thanks for the help guys.
15x10 i think are usually a 4 inch off set and would look better than the 15x8. the 15x8s would work but stock ford wheels are only 15x7 or 7.5. as for the speedo corrction, the ford dealer should have speedo gears that you can buy for cheap. im sure someone on here knows the color of the speedo gear because a lot of people put 33s on their f-150 trucks.
Thanks for the help, just one more ? (sorry guys, I am learning a lot tho). You said 15x10's are normally 4 in. backspacing, so a set with 3 in. backspacing would give me about an extra inch of clearance between my tires and radius arms, correct? I'm just trying to figure out this offset stuff, not sure what I need. If it ever warms up enough (Iowa, no garage), I'll pull one of mine off to measure my offset, then I think I could figure out the amount that I would need. They just barely rub, but it gets annoying. Thanks for the help.
A15x10 would be best for a 33 inch tire. It will sit flatter. You want a 4-4.25 backspacing. Less than 4 inch will definitely wear out wheel bearings in a hurry.
