This came off of an '80 F150 300 w/ Duraspark II. It has stamping of 7287S and a casting to the right of the fuel inlet of 2433. What is the purpose of the linkage on opposite side of the choke? It moves with the throttle shaft and has some sort of dashpot on this side also. Can anyone ID this thing for me? What does this forked arm actuate?
The linkage coming out of the back of the choke housing is the fast idle linkage. The forked linkage is the bowl vent as AB described.
I've never understood the difference between a YF and a YFA. The terms are often used interchangeably, although that's not correct. It is my understanding that a YFA supersedes a YF, but I'm not sure of the differences between the two. Nonetheless, one of those numbers stamped into the carburetor body should be the number to cross reference for a rebuild kit (I can't remember which).
When I rebuild mine, I got the kit from Napa or Schucks. Nothing really special.
I don't think my particular number was listed either (I have 4 of those 1bbls in my garage and they're ALL different, I can't imagine them listing every single one). Pick a kit with whichever has the closest number. They're all very similar as long as they're close in year. I think there was a big change in them around 77.
Two more questions if you don't mind. What is the hole above and to the right of the forked arm and on the (dashpot ?) it looks like a vacuum fitting, what does it connect to?
Thanks, it doesn't look like that hole is threaded, so the nipple must have been a press fit and has fallen off/ yanked out along the way. Back to the JY!
It's nothing special, just regular vacuum hose you can get from an autoparts store.
It connects to the charcoal canister down by the grill on the passenger side.
