auto locking hub help.

i have a 2000 f-350 with the factory auto locking hubs. i bought new warn manual locking hubs for my truck the factory ones are bad. the problem is i cant get the factory ones off. i removed the retaining ring and i cant the hub to come out. i used a big pair of pliars and grabbed on to it and they wiggle a little but they will not come forward at all.

i guess what im asking is there anything i would have to worry about if i just break them apart or really beat on them with a hammer. or is there a trick or something im missing thats making this so difficult? i have read many post on this seams pretty easy and straight forward and suppose to be quick to do. any help would be great.

had the same problem with my 2000 F250. The alum part of the hub corrodes to the steel part and will NOT come out (factory they don't put any grease etc in there to keep that from happening) I ended up breaking mine out and never have had an issue.

i use large channel lock pliers and a rubber mallet.
you just have to beat the crap out of them to get them out.
they will fight you all the way.
when you put the warn hubs on, overdo it with the grease. what is not needed will be pushed out.

and remember to remove and plug the vacuum line going to the hubs, otherwise your heater controls will not work.

thanks for the help guys. i was able to get the auto lock outs off and the new ones out on.

when i searching on doing this i read some post on doubling up the big snap ring that holds the lock out in place to hold it snug instead of having a little play in it. question is where do you guys that did this find the extra snap rings to double them up ? i havent been able to find them.
