So i got this boost gauge hooked up sorta and just wanted to see if it worked and it showed like 3 pounds of boost hammered. I went through tightened the fittings and teflon taped them and still the same thing. It may have been slightly leaking in one spot but would it cause it to read such low boost? or do i probably have a leak somewhere in the engine
Sure sounds like you got a leak. At WOT you should be see alot more than that, like 18-23ish before you start to defuel. Where do you have the boost gauge hooked up????
I tapped into the map sensor. The fittings were compression except one i think that was the problem. I was trying to see if the gauge was working i still need to find one for that last spot.

That's probably your problem. If the tubing is 1/8 inch you'll need a 1/8 inch sleeve and not sure what size of compression nut. I got some 1/8 sleeves from o'rieleys so you should be able to get the nut there or go to a hardware store. Mine came with a kit but you got your gauges used.

Maybe a dumb question, but you were driving right? Not sitting in the driveway in park? You will make very little boost just sitting with no load on the engine. I have seen many people put in a boost gauge and wonder why they don't show boost, then I find out they are just revving up the engine.

Right on Ken, its happened in the past and now when I went back and re-read it sounds like a valid question..Hammered it in his driveway is possible with that low of boost numbers. Good catch.

Right on Ken. I did the same. was about to ring the mob that supplied the gauge. lol. Then I took her for a drive. Needless to say it worked.
I don't think hammering it in the driveway would be something you would normally do in the front seat. But hopefully that is his problem...lol...
Me neither, but, I thought I would throw it out there! I hope that is all it is, otherwise it is probably a gauge issue. Since it will show some pressure?
I had a gauge that would always read 3 psi when installed, drove me nuts. Out of the pod it would read 0, slid it in the pod and 3 psi. Found it was the LED bulb that I was using was the issue, swapped to a different bulb and boom...read normal. Thought I was going insane for a bit!
The boost gauge can easily be tested with a compressor, just don't use pressure that exceeds the limit of the gauge. Even a good strong stroke with a bicycle pump will show if the gauge works.
