transmission 1958 f100 223 3 on tree

Hello all, I have been working hard on my 58 f100--replaced rear passenger drum and wheel cylinder, shoes in rear, leaf springs from Bill W in rear and finally got to clutch and transmission.
Transmission reads in yellow paint: WAJ C
Main Case reads: AF7006-D
Side Cover reads: 70E(backwards E)AB7222-P

1st/reverse gear has 28 teeth-a little chipped
2nd gear has 22 teeth and also looks a little worn
2-3 slider looks worn
input shaft has 16 teeth--little worn
reverse idler 17 teeth
countershaft 14 teeth, 17 teeth, 23 teeth, 27 teeth.
synchros look real bad

I noticed that the clutch looked worn but not inoperable. the Pilot bushing is completely caked in some sort of grease a previous owner put on--think this is why I was unable to shift from stopped into first or reverse.

I am wondering, should i just replace the bearings, gaskets, seals, and synchros on the tranny, or try to find the gears and countershaft? Does anyone know if bearings, gaskets, seals and synchros can be found for this transmission.
Does anyone know what type of transmission this is, and if I cant get it working well, whether a c4 or a c6 automatic would work best? Thanks in advance for the help, will post some pics soon!

bearings, syncros and new countershaft and rollers. you expect some chipping on the 1st/rev gear. by the time you shell out for a full gear set you might as well buy a new trans. least that how things priced out when i did a 53 ****** CJ3b. and after inspecting the case really close i found spiderweb cracking on the front wall around the input shaft bearing. so the case was toast anyhows

Good used parts (gears) are available on eBay, from Van Pelt sales, and other shops. There are some new parts still around, too. All the wear parts are available, with few exceptions. A good rebuild isn't likely to cost more than $100 as long as the cluster gear is OK, and the case isn't bad at the thrust surface for the cluster.

Not sure about the 223's but for the flat V8's there are ball bearing pilot bearings that pop right in.

At least the 59' thru 63' 223's use a bushing for a pilot bearing. Haven't dealt with any earlier than that.
