just got a 67 f 100. black with the ranger package. its a big block auto. engine not original to truck. has the weird mercury script valve covers and i know the 2 barrel intake is not from this engine. the previous owner says he got the valve covers and 410 air cleaner fron another motor. he thought the engine was a 427, but its not. the mains arent cross bolted, ans the frost plugs are press in. three bolts on the dampner, looks like 4 bolts on the mounts and on the block there is the number 2b24. any help?
Sounds like a pretty cool old engine, like vintage hot rod stuff.
Does she run pretty good ?
Kinda makes me wonder if it's an old 292, or a 312.
If the intake is part of the heads under the valve covers, that would make it an FE,
more authentic to the truck.
thats what he said it had orignally. then a 410 was added. then this one. it does have a 2b42 cast into the block. 62? 72? i dont know. i was hoping someone would. tried to post pics but it wouldnt let me.
Try clicking User CP up on the blue bar, edit gallery, load your photos there. Then any one can click your username and find them.
You can also post them online at a hosting site and link them. I have a photo of a 390 on an engine stand in my album, that I will link for you. We will have to have more than it might be to be able to help.
If parts came from a 410 Merc, then it should be at least an FE engine. Does the intake run under the valve covers about 1/3 the way? Are the plugs angled towards the middle \\ // ? If so, then it is definitely and FE and you will need to proceed from there. Seems to me the 2B block stamp would be 1952, but that would not be right...
its a fe for sure. things just dont add up the way they should for what i've read. i'm normally a big block mopar guy, so all of this is new to me. tried to post pics, but i think i signed up for the free membership- to try this out- so, that might be it. could be a frankenstien version of the fe. hasnt been started in 3 yrs. i'm up north and its outside and very cold. bad time of year to be starting a stored for awhile engine.
That's a tough deal. You will need to measure out the stroke of the crank (search this) and that will at least get you close to what you have. Other than that, there are no external markings that will tell you if it's a 352-360-390-410-428....
