My 2004 Ford Escape (3.0 L - DOHC - V6) is pulling code p0316 and p0305. It said that cylinder #5 is misfiring. Where in this engine is cylinder #5 located. I was told it was the middle cylinder in the back, but I have looked online and every diagram I have found shows it as the middle cylinder in the front. Does anyone know which cylinder it is and if there are any diagrams available?
Anyone who tells you it's on the firewall side is unfamiliar with Ford's numbering scheme which is:
As seen from sitting in the driver's seat- left/right, front/rear are always referenced from this location.
For longitudinally mounted engines, number 1 cylinder is the right bank, front cylinder. Count back to the firewall, then go to the left bank and repeat.
For transverse-mounted engines, mentally rotate the engine 90 degrees CCW as seen from above so the front (crankshaft pulley) of the engine faces forward. Apply the "standard" rule.
