my engine is a 360 i can get a intake manifold for it for cheap but it says its made for the 390 and higher, i thought the 360 and 390 where the same so would that fit mine?
I'm guessing the manifold you're looking at is for a 4bbl carb...that's probably why it says it's for a 390. I don't believe there were any 360's offered with a 4bbl from the factory.

600 CFM would work better if stock. I had a 750 and like the 600 much better. 360,390,460 all built on the same 352 block. Intakes all the same. not many to to pick from. Check out this thread on the 390fe 390 FE help needed - THE H.A.M.B.

only non stock thing in the engine is a cam. not 100% about that either
after reading that i think i will go with the 600 cfm, i always thought bigger was better.

The 460 is a completely different block.
Maybe you meant the 427?
FE's I haven't forgotten, and the 460 isn't one of them....

A good lesson to learn early is that that's not always true.
You need to keep the air flow velocity through the venturis high enough to atomize the fuel properly. You don't want an excessive amount of restriction to do that, but properly sizing the carb to the displacement and red-line will bring more joy that just a "big carb".
I guess the question is if the kickdown linkage is the same for a 2bbl and a 4 bbl...if it is you should be able to use the one you have with a "direct replacement" carb that's specifically for a 390 4bbl/w a C6 automatic. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to contact the company you're buying it from to be certain about the carb, and maybe start a thread over in 67-72 to see if anyone can tell you if the linkages are identical.
