Fuel Tank Size on 2011 KR
I just had to put my first tank of diesel in my 2011 KR. The needle was on 1/4 tank. It would only let me put in 18 gallons. Dealer told me it had a 35 gallon tank and for that matter the Ford site says the crew cab short bed has 37 gallon tank.
Here is the link.

What gives? Does the gas gauge not read correctly? Or does it really have a smaller tank?
I had an 03 6.0 liter and it didn't want to start on chilly mornings unless I plugged in the block heater. And I live in south Texas...so chilly was like 50 degrees. And after all the money I have put into that truck this year I had to get rid of it. Couldn't find anyone to work on it either. All the mechanics I would talk to didn't or wouldn't work on the 6.0.......Had less than 60k miles in it also. What a shame.

I drove about 225 miles on that 3/4 tank of diesel.
I see in some other forms that the short beds came with the smaller tanks. That sucks that Ford list the big tank but gives you the small one.

Well that sucks. Especially when the website says otherwise. After what I paid for that truck I shouldn't have to go shell out another 1300 bucks for a real fuel tank.

I see where the confusion is. The link you provided shows 158" wheel base. The short bed Crew Cab F350 is 156".
From the "download specifications" adobe file from the link you provided:
Fuel tank — 26-gallon capacity (F-250/F-350 137," 142" and 156" WB
with diesel engine)
Fuel tank — 35-gallon capacity (gas engine only)
Fuel tank — 37.5-gallon capacity (F-250/F-350 158" and 172" WB with
diesel engine, and F-450)

This is probably the only thing that really still bugs me about the truck. Some might remember when I got all hot and bothered over my little tank last July but I ended up calming down as well. At the end of the day, a 36-37 gallon tank would be adequate, but the 50 plus gallon tank is AWESOME. I just look at it like Ford forced me to be happier with my own solution. I have successfully blanked-out the memory of how much the Titan tank cost.
Just FYI - I had a quick conversation with Paul Bruckner and he hates the situation with the small tanks as well. He informed me that the empty space in front of the 26 gallon tank is required by FMVSS 301 (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard). Remember the Pinto fires? Ford was burned by that (so to speak) so they now interpret the federal standards very conservatively.
