I went to the Pioneer site and did their Fit routine for my selected vehicle, and it came up with your unit as one of the four (2nd least expensive, lol). Of course they recommended a whole variety of speakers and two amps, a little more than I am looking for.

Ya, they offer all kinds of packages. One of the things I really like about this unit is that it works well alone, with factory speakers, and you can add tons of stuff to it as you choose. I plan on adding the navigation someday and maybe even the back up camera. It's just nice to have the options without having to spend a bunch of money all at once.

Pete, That is a sweet looking deck. Wish I wasn't so cheap, or I would get one like that! I went the simple route with mine and just got a basic deck with ipod control. Now I use my Droid to play Pandora on it. That deck you have would be nice since it can have a back-up camera too...oh well I will have to save more quarters I guess

Ken, Is yours a double-DIN unit as well? Can't figure out why all the retail sites recommend that size for our trucks. I did send Crutchfield and Best Buy questions on their results and the results I got at Pioneer.

No, mine is a single DIN deck in a adapter to fit the opening. It was something like $199 a few years ago. The little slot can be on the top or the bottom, holds the remote nicely. Mine is a Pioneer as well DEH-6000

OK, it looks like a single DIN will work with the type of adapter you have.

Yes, if you buy from Crutchfield, they give you the adapter and the wire harness, along with the stock radio removal tools. The kit is usually around $25 and the harness is $20, the tools are a few dollars. So it does save buying from them, if installation is not free where you buy yours.

I found they are ~$80 less than Best Buy on the unit that Pete has. I had my radio out a little while ago when I replaced the bulbs in my dash and already have the tools. It came out (too?) easy.

Crutchfield used to be really expensive 10-15 years ago, but they have always has good prices for me. I bought a 47" flat screen tv from them a few years ago. They had a deal where if you bought a TV you got a free mount. Well I added the $400 full extend mount to the cart and it was free, couldn't believe it, figured they would only give the cheap ones away. They also had free shipping and "white glove delivery" where they bring it in and unpack the TV for you, and then take to box after you make sure it works. They had better prices than Costco, Best Buy and the local shops, so I figured I couldn't go wrong. Worked out and has been a great deal.

I'm in the market to replace my OEM disc-eater. No need for a big screen display or nav, a single disc is fine, the requirements are green lighting to match the stock 02 interior and clean sound. Anybody got a suggestion?

I put a JVC deck in my kids BMW which has a red/orange dash light color. A bunch of them now have variable colors so you can match them pretty close.

Here is a JVC Aresnal KD-A815 for around $180 that has the lighting features and is an upgrade from the one I put in his car (KD-A605) so it should be a pretty good deck.

Found a video on it to show the features.

Hey Pete, I'm looking at that exact stereo for my truck, I'm ready to get with the program and have something that will connect my phone to it with bluetooth, plays dvds, and I can hook a back up camera to it.

So my question is on the mounting, is there a special bracket needed or does the new radio simply slide in?

Hi Keith, there is a mounting kit for it, simple kit and pretty cheap. I'll get ahold of my sons buddy who put mine in and get the info on it for you. You'll like this stereo, besides everything else, you can change the back light to one of like a dozen colors, and even upload your own pics to use for back grounds. It even sounds really good with my original speakers, til I get new ones.

That's cool, I'm not looking for crazy sound, just those few things I listed. I went to Crutchfield because they usually send out everything needed for the install with the radio, but they say it doesn't fit and will only send the wiring harness. So I'm wondering what else is need to the physical install.

Hey Keith, he told me the kit is made by Metra #95-5817. It sells for like $22 from Best Buy.
