ford ranger problem

hey im new to this,

Im having problem with my ranger its a 97 2.3 l4 i bought it from a construction worker the body was pretty beat up. it over revs when i start it then shuts off right away, i can keep it running with my foot on the gas but when i let go it shuts off, i already tried resetting the timing but its still the same.
i really need help on this one..

I appreciate the help guys...

nope no CEL on no codes either, but recently when i tried starting it i heard a pop then i checked it it was leaking gas, i was thinking my fuel injectors are clog.

1997 ranger Reg Cab, 2.3L, 2WD, 7" front and back dropped.
