I have a 2004 5.4 powered f-350 that has i think w codes? and a 1.5 inch add aleaf that sagged again. i finally decided to install x-codes and was wondering if i need a adjustable tract bar? only reason i ask is that when i installed the add a leaf the bolt holes just barely lined up and i had trouble sliding in the bolts. the bar was like a 1/16 to 1/8 too short but i got the bolts in with a little force. if the x codes give me more lift which i know they will from searching on the forums i know i wont get them in and i don't want my front end off center. so should i just buy a adjustable tract bar when i order my x codes? and who makes a good one for the 99-04 trucks with poly bushings?
I replaced my code "S" springs with code "X" springs a few years back. I did not have to install an adjustable track bar. When a truck was built with "X" code springs, it used the same track bar as the rest of them. Why did you disconnect your track bar when you added the add a leaf ??? You do not have to disconnect the track bar when you replace the front springs. You may have to nudge the axle assembly to the right when you're ready to engage the center pins on the new springs into the axle assembly, but the track bar definately DOES NOT have to be disconnected.
i installed poly bushings in the tract bar and sway bar so when i reinstalled it it didnt line up right. and i have read that the x codes give you more lift and i didnt want the axle off center
when i installed my X-codes on my old '04 excursion it was a very easy direct swap. never messed with the trac bar or anything. i ended up with about 2 3/4" lift with them.
