Both look like Dana 44 to me, the white 78 one looks like a high pinion version which is why the oil add plug is up higher on the cover so the level is higher ....

yes i was curious on why the fill plugs are higher and lower then others.
i found a 1978 f350 with dana 60 front and rear,but the guy is asking a high price.
so i'm serching for the odd f250 that might have a d60 in the front.
