Dash delete opening plate

Just had a quick question regarding the dash on my '66 F100 CC.

On the dash, to the right of the steering wheel column, below the sweep, is a blanking plate, then a "choke" control and then the "heater" control.

I removed the blanking plate and it is covering up a 3/8" round hole with a slot at the top. Sort of looks like an upside down keyhole.

If I am not mistaken, wasn't this for an emergency flasher indicator light? or was there something else? Just didn't expect that size opening with a slot once I popped the blank off.

The 4 things I have to the right of my column are the Emergency Flasher Indicator, the emergency Flasher switch, the Choke, and then the Heater control.

I only have the one hole, maybe because I do not have the emergency flasher option.

Just wondering if that hole with slot is for the indicator or the emergency flasher switch.

In case anyone is wondering, I am planning to use that open slotted hole for a brake trouble warning light for the dual master cylinder system I will be installing. The '67-'72 brake trouble light I have won't go thru the hole as it is (it is too small an opening in the dash). Also, the later brake trouble light dash escutcheon won't completely cover the slot, either.

Before I do any metal work on the dash, I want to verify what the original hole fit because I may re-think where I mount the '67-72 brake trouble light. I might even use an emergency flasher indicator instead to indicate brake trouble.

That's funny, I didn't realize emergency flashers were an option. I thought they were required in 66. I also thought wind shield washers were required. Do your trucks have them??
