In the centre console of my 99 expy, there is a round opening with GARMIN written on it. I have a hand held Garmin GPS so I assume that this is some sort of standard plug to connect an on-board navigation system. I couldn't find any information in my owners manual about this option, type of system, etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Well that is not an option on the truck. If you get lost a lot I would get one. I like mine for the what's at the next off ramp. Yes with the right software it will tell you what to eat when your on the road. If you want to know more ask.
Hey WOW, I'm a newbie to the board, and already I can help out! I have a 2000 exp - GREAT truck, I've already put 93K on it . Anyway, if you are interested in a Garmin, get the Garmin StreePilot III. I've had mine in the truck since I bought it - I do a LOT of traveling to various clients, and the StreetPilot never stears me wrong. I can prolly take some pix of my setup if anyone is interested, I did not hardwire it - it is on a nice beanbag and plugged into my drivers side lighter.
